#131: Spilled Milk

It’s been over two years since I pumped, and every memory of every spilled bottle haunts me to this day.

The maxim “don’t cry over spilled milk” is somewhat less applicable when it comes to breast milk! For a while, everything you do has to be checked against its effect on your milk supply, every ounce can be a struggle to make (to MAKE. with your already battered body!!), it’s literally keeping your child alive, and so linked to being a Good Mom, it’s hard not to take it really, really hard when you lose some.

(“But don’t cry over spilled milk! Yuk yuk!” yes yes yes, I know, just pass me another eight litres of water please.)
