Something changed in my brain when I became a mom. It had to throw out a lot of things in order to fit all the new information! It just… picked some strange things. Like, I used to be completely confident in knowing exactly where we parked our car, and that’s just… gone, now. The part of my brain that filed that away without me thinking about it got repurposed to making sure the kid’s getting out of the car with me. Which is good, but… like… c’mon. She’s twelve now; can I have that back? No?

What else is gone? My postal code. No, really. I have to look it up every time. And, uh, like, most of July 2013 – February 2014…

What did remain? Every Girl Guide song, ever. My single line from a play in French 8: berger, berger où es-tu? Nous les mutton somme perdue. Most of the best lines from Heritage Minutes. The address of my childhood house. The Kids Help Phone number. How to spell onomatopoeia on the first try.

I actually had cause to summon that bit of Pokemon trivia today, because the family picked up Pokemon Go. Momo is absolutely schooling me on the 700+ Pokemon I don’t know, but somewhere deep in the reaches of my brain I got to pull that fact out and impress her.

In two weeks, I’ll be in Penticton for Penti-con! It’s my first time there (the show OR Penticton), but I hear it’s a nice little show, so I’m looking forward to it! I’ll be at table D13 (or just, like, yell my name real loud <3) with most of the same stuff I brought to Edmonton a few weeks ago, including some tableside kitty commissions! If you’re in the interior, please stop by! <3
