You know those picture-perfect autumn scenes, with kids and golden retrievers frolicking in piles of crispy, freshly-raked leaves? Yeah… we don’t have those here. We have novel slimes, moist decomposing muck, and crow shit. Oh, and the bugs! They don’t talk about the bugs.

After having an absolute banger summer, I swore we finally had our shit together as parents and we’d do the same for autumn: pumpkin patches, hayrides, apple-related revelry, the works. Well, instead of doing that, I worked 60+ hours a week, did three conventions, finished writing a video game, and also our dog’s cancer relapsed. Now, we’re coasting into winter – hate that it’s already halfway through November!! – but I’m glad that it was at least a unusually beautiful and long-lasting autumn so we can squeeze a few more days of seasonal magic out of… well, looking at the piles of fallen leaves, from a safe distance.

If you’re local, I’ll be at the Vancouver Game Expo on November 29! Should be the last event of the year for me. I’ll have copies of Motherlover and will be doing tableside cat commissions, plus the usual assortment of prints! It’s at the Roundhouse
