I’m not usually the person who’s ahead of the game when it comes to Christmas shopping – I’m a solid middle-of-the-pack person, after a few very bad procrastination years – but I started buying gifts for people in August because, let’s face it, online shopping got me through this year.

With thanks to my friend Donna, who tweeted this sentiment and it perfectly encapsulated how we’re approaching gift-giving this Christmas. If it’s even loosely enriching for a kid who’s been largely alone since March, it’s getting bought. I’m eyeing an electric keyboard she can bang away on while wearing headphones for what, I’m sure, are obvious reasons.
